MARCH OF SOLIDARITY
in support of the "Free the Jena 6" campaign

Wednesday, September 19, 2007

WHERE: UC Berkeley's Sproul Plaza to Downtown Oakland
TIME: 5:30 PM at Sproul Plaza

Family, Friends, and Comrades,

As many of you already know this Thursday has become a national day of
solidarity for the Jena 6. The main rally will take place in San Francisco
on the 20th beginning at 12 PM. For those of you who cannot make the 12
o’clock rally on Thursday, you have another option! Tomorrow evening we
will engage in an event of active resistance toward the Jim Crow "justice”
system in Jena, Louisiana. A group, mostly of UC Berkeley and Berkeley
High students, will walk from the corner of Bancroft and Telegraph to
Downtown Oakland in solidarity of the Jena 6. The march is ambitious on
purpose, as it is evidently very long (according to US walking standards),
but the point is to draw in as much media attention as possible to the
case. It is truly scary how brilliant a job our mainstream media has done
in keeping this case on the downlow. Please do what you can do show
support, if you cannot march tomorrow do your part in spreading the word,
if you can march we look forward to seeing you there! (Bring your walking
shoes!)

Thank you for your support!!

-Mahaliyah O.
