Willard: Ralph Cantor Power Point Presentation "Drug Education for Parents and Guardians"

Dear Parents and Guardians:

 

We had an engaging and enlightening speaker at the PTA meeting tonight,
Ralph Cantor, who discussed "Drug Education for Parents & Guardians."  Mr.
Cantor has spoken at many local middle and high schools around the Bay Area
(including King Middle School last spring) and is highly regarded in this
field.  I believe we came away with a clear, unbiased understanding of how
marijuana and alcohol affect the adolescent brain and ways in which we can
both engage our children in meaningful conversation and help prevent harmful
involvement with drugs and alcohol.   

 

Attached is the Power Point presentation from the evening.  Mr. Cantor is a
Drug, Tobacco, and Violence Prevention Educator, recently retired from
Alameda County Office of Education as Coordinator of Comprehensive School
Services where he provided technical assistance and training to all school
districts in Alameda County toward implementing their prevention programs
for drugs, tobacco, and safe schools. He also provides Drug and Alcohol
education at Berkeley High School.

I  hope to see you at our next PTA meeting on April 12 when Carolyn Ruiz,
Willard counselor, will discuss "Going to 

College 101:Terms, Definitions, and Timeline."
