A conspiracy at the Census bureau - Robert Hedges responds - better late than never.

Time has elapsed. Those who have real paranoid fantasies among these women are known to those who have met them over the intervening years. Robert Hedges could not fight back in 1990 because:
Response to BC290, - dated 1 November 1990
Robert Hedges - 402-66-7002

Robert Hedges has been charged with repeatedly or deliberate unsolicited verbal comments. Any initiation of conversation between two individuals must be at some point unsolicited, and must begin at the first exchange.

{{ Robert Hedges has been compelled to be very reserved because of the real fear that more misguided individuals could cause more harassment, damage to his reputation, and unavoidable arrests by just this same method of prevaricating in unison with what sound like serious criminal allegations.}}

Since I started (working) at the census, which I enjoy, I have likewise been the target of a number of unsolicited verbal comments, not work related. I did not see the need to create a difficult situation because of these comments coming to me, but I see that in the future I may need to use this complaint system. I rarely respond.

I do not swear, make lewd comments, gestures, over-familiarization motions or touches or especially threats to coworkers. I do not straddle people in their chairs, but only seek to work as efficiently as possible. I rarely choose where or with whom (I will work on a given day)

I said once in a response to a question that I was randy (and had to define the term with a word I do not like, horny) but I addressed none of these accusers on that day (with the statement). This was one individual verbal exchange.

I do all I can to prevent this work environment from being a hostile, offensive, intimidating place, but here is an example of an offensive unprovoked hostility.

2. I specifically stated one day in September or earlier that names are sometimes broadcasted from my proximity. And that I had been drugged (a year ago) and that some individual whose name was broadcasted from a previous job location where he was a customer, did in fact have a sudden need to go to the VA hospital. I feel that one person getting publicity and then being in need of hospitalization is one too many. I was dosed (maybe with insecticide) the word, phrase, deed of disappear was never mentioned by anyone or myself before.

A former sheriff during a televised interview mentioned my name. "don't blame it on Robert Hedges, " in 1985, in reference to a disappearance in Spencer County, KY, while the investigation was FBI jurisdiction as a kidnapping.

I lived in Jefferson County, worked in Anderson County (car pool) via I-64 at the time, and was never near this investigation nor acquainted with any person involved in it as victim or perpetrator. A murder conviction has resulted. (from the solving of the crime)

3. Gentlemen do not grunt, or make grunting sounds. I have never made a "grunting" sound to any employee of the census.

The individual who solicited a response of the word horny (which I dislike and consequently do not use, except to define randy) does not have a complaint herein. And had and has now no reason to complain - except that her name was broadcasted on TV.

To treat my coworkers with respect, dignity, friendly easy-going laughter, with seldom a cross word, and to have such a sudden attack of delusional criminal allegations is revolting

I am innocent.

{{ Some of the complaints were the descriptions of what these individuals said to each other, and what they thought someone said. Rules of court would exclude any statement which is the conclusion of the witness, or hearsay of what someone else thought was said. Most of the allegations were just plain false statements. Some rebuttal of Robert Hedges was written (without a word processor) and part of the rebuttal was verbal, but with five witnesses stacked against one, the majority ruled. }}

{{ The trouble which originated on Sunday is that I was getting all the overtime offered because I work hard and fast and earned that work, and thus may have been considered for permanent employment. Some employees were already laid off. These girls wanted to eliminate me from the competition. }}

{{ The recurrent theme in these complaints seems to be that Robert Hedges hears someone's name" when the problem is that some DJ broadcasts the name for all of the late-night listening public to hear. If his name were broadcasted in a negative context he would want someone to :

{{ None of these employees know where Robert Hedges lives, because his address changed daily (motel) and frequently during these months, with at least ten different beds/locations/rooms/places. Thus they could not determine where he may be properly seen. }}

{{ Robert Hedges worked two jobs, and didn't have time to bathe between his night job and the Census bureau, which due to summer temperatures and humidity might contribute to an absence of freshness. This lack of time due to work also offers the best proof that he had no time to wander around in whatever neighborhoods these girls would allege he was improperly seen in. He worked, slept, worked, worked, slept, worked, slept etc. }}

{{ Robert Hedges does not making grunting sounds, and does not say "damn" or "damn horny" }}

{{ Robert was never privy to the automobiles which any of these people drove, since the census parking lot is large and impersonal. }}
